HEY EVERYONE and WELCOME to UBC CSA 2011-2012! My name is Josh and I am honoured to be the 55th president of the first and longest-standing Chinese student club at UBC. With 1000+ members per year, CSA is a powerful network of UBC students that functions actively in the community to bring about large scale productions ranging from singing contests to ski trips and other countless forms of gatherings for you to enjoy. As the president of CSA, my primary role is to lead my club and oversee the eight departments in all areas and aspects. I will ensure that the Top6 and BOD’s communicate and work together as a unified organizational body that will bring about quality of the club’s public image. My committee and I will work hard to build new and sustain positive relationships with the local community, sponsors and business organizations. To guide CSA to new heights, I will implement innovative and creative new ideas to enhance all of the clubs operations and lead the clubs towards achieving all of its set targets. After being a part of CSA for 2 memorable years, I have come across and learnt so much from CSA that I cannot possibly express it all here. To contribute back to the club, I have decided to take on this position as president, knowing that I have acquired sufficient leadership skills and experience to guide CSA and the TOP6/BOD. CSA will work hard to bring you about many great events this year, so if you would like to be a part of this unforgettable experience you must join CSA! I guarantee a great time! I look forward to meeting you all!

Hi everyone! My name is Alex and I am honoured to be this year’s Treasurer. I entered the executive team as a member of the Communication department. Then I transferred to the Special Events department. During the time when I was an exec, I helped out in many external and internal events such as children talent show, singing contest, drama, exec dinner and internal drinking. I also took on important roles, assistant producer and stage manager, for many events. I gained lots of valuable experiences from meeting people and leading a team to compiling a budget sheet. As the Treasurer, I am responsible for providing financial directions and overseeing all the financial activities of CSA. I also need to make sure the financial status of CSA is in a “good” condition and seek out new opportunities to generate more revenue. If you would like to meet new friends, create exciting events and have an unforgettable university life, CSA is your best choice! I look forward to meeting you all!

I am Sandra, a fourth year student in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems, majoring in Nutritional Science. As a student who studies nutrition, I have noticed people are getting more and more health conscious, at the same time they are also getting more aware of their own and others’ appearances. Although people always say “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” but that is what we always tend to do. So here is my job as the Visual Promotions Director — design nice posters, brochures, newsletters…etc. to ATTRACT YOUR ATTENTION! Once you get attracted to by this “cover”, I’m sure you will have a superb time flipping through the pages with all the CSA’s TOP6, BODs, executives and members. AND if you think you’ve got what it takes to be the designer of the “cover”, be sure to join the VISUAL PROMOTIONS department, I will ensure you to have a magnificent year at UBC.

Throughout the school year, students face high levels of stress originating from the heavy homework load and rigorous exam schedule. Studies have proven that stress leads to reduced quality of life and ultimately a shorter life span. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to alleviate that stress with some fun! This is essentially the purpose of the Social Department. As Director, it is my job to ensure that you have an active social life in university while meeting many new friends along the way. I promise that your experience in CSA will be truly enriching. Feel free to contact me any time should you have any questions about the Social Department or CSA!
